Wijnaldum, 31, is apparently ready to return to England’s top flight, barely six months after leaving Liverpool on a free transfer to join PSG. He has battled to keep down a regular spot in Mauricio Pochettino’s midfield in Ligue 1.

Instead of returning to Merseyside, the Netherlands international is rumoured to desire to join Arsenal, a club he idolized as a child. And with Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta eager to bolster his midfield in north London, Wijnaldum might have a chance to make that ambition a reality.

PSG, on the other hand, do not want to lose the midfielder in the middle of the season, and Wijnaldum is unlikely to loudly demand a transfer elsewhere.

According to ABC Sevilla, Andres Guardado has signed a new contract with Real Betis that would keep him at the club until 2023.

Guardado, 35, was set to leave Betis at the conclusion of the season, but the club has chosen to extend his stay since he is an important player for boss Manuel Pellegrini.

We have a lot of great new talent coming through, so having someone of Jill’s caliber teach them would be tremendous.”

According to ESPN, Hodgson will be joined by long-time assistant coach Ray Lewington, and the two will be tasked with maintaining the team in the Premier League this season despite a dismal run of play that saw Ranieri’s tenure come to an end.
