The New York Knicks are one of the NBA’s most storied franchises, but it seems their luck just doesn’t quite line up with their attitude. The team is in turmoil for much of 2018-19 season following a public feud between star players Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis. The Knicks have five games remaining in what has been an ugly year-long soap opera that includes tampering charges against the organization by former president Phil Jackson, trade rumors involving Anthony before he was dealt to Oklahoma City Thunder last month, and drama surrounding Porzingis’ recovery from ACL surgery. As if all that didn’t happen already during this week alone! It will be interesting to see how things play out next summer when these two stars become free agents again.”,”Successful teams keep winning because they don’t allow distractions”,”If you’re not happy at your current job or company then it might be time for a change.”

In a game against the Boston Celtics, the New York Knicks were down by 25 points in the second quarter. However, they managed to come back and tie up the game at halftime. In overtime, they had a chance to win it but missed two free throws with less than 30 seconds left. The Knicks would go on to lose their fourth straight game. It all began off so innocently. Early in the 2021–22 NBA season, two words as New York as hot dog stands and the Empire State Building became a rallying cry for the New York Knicks. The sound of the subway doors closing is “bing bong.” However, something amusing occurred on the way to celebrating the Knicks’ 5–1 start to the season.

The team took advantage of the “bing bong” trend. It began to appear on the Jumbotron at Madison Square Garden. What started off as a harmless trend became into a routine. Is it true that the Knicks hit a three-pointer? “Bing bong,” says the narrator. It’s right there on the scoreboard, as you can see. Then, all of a sudden, the enchantment started to dissipate.

The New York Knicks have had some recent struggles.

The New York Knicks have fallen back to the pack in the Eastern Conference after their blistering 5–1 start. New York’s 103–96 away triumph against the Philadelphia 76ers on Nov. 8 was just their second win in their past five games.

The victory improved the Knicks’ record to 7–4, their best after 11 games since going 8–3 in 2012–13. Last season, New York ended a seven-year playoff drought in their first season under coach Tom Thibodeau. Thibodeau earned his second Coach of the Year Award with a 41–31 victory. However, despite possessing home-court advantage, the Knicks struggled in the playoffs, falling in five games to the Atlanta Hawks.

New York, though, has high hopes for this season after signing Evan Fournier and Kemba Walker in the summer. At the point guard position, Walker and Derrick Rose create an experienced yet efficient duo. Walker, who was an All-NBA player three seasons ago with the Charlotte Hornets, is shooting 45.0 percent from 3-point range, which is by far his best mark in his career. Rose, the NBA MVP in 2010–11, is a 43.2 percent long-range shooter.

Bong, bong, bong

Julius Randle isn’t shooting great right now, but the offense revolves on him, and he leads the team in assists with 5.5 per game. However, part of the air has recently been sucked out of the balloon.

Taking possession of the ‘bing bong’ has brought the Knicks ill luck.

Some of the bing-bong enchantment has dissipated, as Ian Begley of Sports New York noted via Twitter after the New York Knicks were battered at home by the upstart Cleveland Cavaliers on Nov. 7.

The Knicks have lost two consecutive games at Madison Square Garden since the magic words first appeared on the Jumbotron. The Toronto Raptors beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 113–104 at MSG on Nov. 1 before the disaster.

Fans are a superstitious bunch. The Knicks were winning when they thought they were behind the bing bong mojo. New York, on the other hand, hasn’t fared as well now that it’s become a thing.

The fact is that the sound has very little to do with whether or not an NBA game was won or lost. Take the spontaneity out of anything in a sporting arena, though, and it loses its appeal. What was once the greatest thing in the planet has now become an eye-rolling annoyance. And Knicks fans need all the entertainment they can get.

New York Knicks fans have persisted in the face of adversity.

Madison Square Garden may be the basketball Mecca, but an NBA championship hasn’t visited the venue in decades. In their 75-year existence, the New York Knicks have only won two championships, the most recent in 1973.

It’s been a long time since your franchise won a championship, especially if it was while Richard Nixon was president and John Lindsay was mayor.

Some argue that the Knicks’ devoted fan base is as much a hindrance as an aid to the team’s success. Last season, even a little amount of success had the Garden rocking. However, given that the last time New York reached the NBA Finals was in 1999, it’s obvious that any positive news would send the fans into excitement.

They did, after all, grow up during the “let Phil Jackson develop a squad” period. That was a nightmare that no one would want on their worst enemy. Prior to it, there was the specific circle of whatever underworld you believe in that was Isiah Thomas’ tenure as franchise president. And, yeah, James Dolan is still the team’s owner, so the karmic powers haven’t been kind to Knicks fans.

The Knicks are no longer a pushover under Thibodeau. When visiting teams travel to Manhattan, they must be concerned about more than simply having a good time. However, the New York Knicks may do their supporters a favor and return the bing bong to them. Organic fads are more entertaining. Putting it on the Jumbotron turns it become a business event, and corporate events have a history of draining the pleasure from a gathering.
