The end of 2015 has been a busy one for my computer, so I’ve not had the time to do some of the experiments I’d like to. One of those is testing the SanDisk Ultra USB 3.0 flash drive. I have one 3.0 flash drive that I was able to buy last summer, and have used it to write test files to my various USB drives over the past year. It’s been working great, but there are a couple of new 3.0 flash drives that have been announced in the past few weeks, one by SanDisk, and one by Lexar. I’ve spent a little time with the Lexar one, and it appears to work fine, but the SanDisk one has been giving me a
A couple of weeks ago, I reviewed a USB 3.0 flash drive from SanDisk, which is advertised as “Ultra-fast transfer speeds” and “the world’s most popular USB drive”. I was not able to test this particular drive because it was not compatible with my computer, so I asked SanDisk about it. I was told that I had to contact the manufacturer of my PC to find out if it was capable of taking advantage of the Ultra Speed USB 3.0 specification. I did so, and the manufacturer told me that my PC was not compatible.
Recently, I have noticed the SanDisk Ultra USB 3.0 flash drive taking forever to unplug from my Macbook Pro. When I get up, it’s still plugged in, and when I go to unplug it, it’s still plugged in. It’s as if it’s stuck; I’ve played with the cable a bit, but it still doesn’t want to come out. Up until recently, I’ve used SanDisk products exclusively, so I decided to call SanDisk support to see if their tech support might have a solution.
However, there have been instances where Windows 10 users have reported that the SanDisk Ultra USB 3.0 drive is not working. Of course, checking for hidden symbols does not solve this problem. Usually it seems that even when the USB is connected and the indicator light is on, there are no device related notifications. In other words: SanDisk is not recognizable.
