It’s been a week since the last Energy of the Week, and it’s time to introduce a new one. I’d like to introduce you to the Energy of the Week: Words Spoken and Spells Chanted. In this Energy, you’ll find week-long posts that feature a new word, a new spell, and a new imaginative writing exercise.
This week, I’m looking at the role of rituals and words of power in a community’s magical movement. In my last post I looked at the importance of celebrating the speaking of words and the performance of sacred rituals. But there’s more to it than that. The repetition of words and actions is vital in creating and sustaining a magical community.
Energy of the Week: Words spoken and spelled Hello dear friends, Welcome to this weekly post about the week’s energy, what it will be like and how you can make better use of it. Let’s get started. The nine of swords: We are concerned about what the future holds. We care about the words that are not spoken in the darkness of the night. Doubt creeps in and we think the world will end. It’s as if time has left us in the past. The things we worry about are things in the middle of a notebook waiting to be looked at. We wonder if the sun will rise again and tell us that everything will be restored. We wait for an answer in the dark of the night. We think. The nine of swords in the interpretation tells us that what worries us is nothing but thoughts expressed by our own ego. The ego vomits the darkest thoughts into our minds, keeping us awake at night and telling us we are unworthy. That it won’t work out in our favour. The Spirit tells us something else. Even though we continue, sleep deprived and dazed, we keep trying. We live and breathe. Sometimes our breath is just a whisper under the covers asking the Spirit to help me. What we sometimes forget, and the reason why the nine of swords appears, is that the real things we need to focus on are the things we control. Earth. Air. The fire of inspiration. The water of change. Everything is in motion. Everything works out in our favor in the end. We may be concerned, but other maps tell a different story. It is as if we think too much about an object that is stationary and unchanging. It is as if we are looking at a mountain and without taking a step or an action, have already decided that we cannot climb it. Eventually the reality dawns on us and we move on, unaware of how long we have been worrying. Take this thought to the next level of fear: When life places a mountain before you, an obstacle of tremendous height, you must try to do the impossible before you decide it is impossible to overcome. We can surprise ourselves and make the impossible possible. 2 cuts, 10 cuts, 3 cuts : The family. I forgot what it meant to write. Keystrokes. Memoirs. The lessons in the cards are in front of me. This week is all about unity with those we love and care about. Husband, mother, sister, brother. Everyone gathers around the big table of love and eat at the same time. Meeting of the minds. Minds with the same thought patterns. Faith, hope, destiny, strength. Everyone sits down to a prepared meal and shared drinks. The cards tell us about the words and sayings we use to let others know what we think of them. Those who have died will feel close to the altar of the dead. Those who are still alive will appear at our door unannounced, hugging and laughing as they cross. Recall memories of the past, tell the stories of the present, and make loving resolutions for the future. Go ahead. Be careful. Know that the last two years have not been easy, but we will all arrive at our destination new and stronger. Throughout the week, remember to put broad strokes on the canvas of our lives and tell our Higher Self that this time of togetherness means more than doubt and worry.
